Well known in horology circles, Dutchman Kees Engelbarts is a master engraver of the highest order – his hands having shaped wondrous pieces for the likes of Jaeger-LeCoultre, Hublot and Harry Winston.

Along with compatriot Paul Pertjis – with whom he studied at the Silversmith Academy – Engelbarts recently announced the formation of Cornelius & Cie, a watchmaking brand specializing in the creation of fine mechanical watches.

Their first collection of 12 Chromosome 46XY watches pictured here showcase what the brand promises to be characteristic of all their creations.

Powered by vintage (1935) A. Schild movements with an eccentrically placed barrel, the watch features elaborate engraving and skeletonized movements. Cornelius & Cie says that every part of any given movement is hand-embellished, featuring the work of Engelbarts himself.

The current collection features three models – the first is completely skeletonized, the second partially skeletonized and the third bears a Côtes de Genève decoration. All models have eight days of power reserve and are hand-wound.
