Basel '08: Concord C1 Tourbillon Gravity

Next to the Zenith Zero-G Tourbillon, the Concord C1 Tourbillon Gravity is perhaps the other star tourbillon watch at this year’s Baselworld. This is one tourbillon watch where the tourbillon does not take center stage as the showpiece inside the watch case.

Instead, the tourbillon, made of aluminium-lithium, seems totally disconnected and independent of the watch mechanism. And the surprise does not end here - have a look at the side window of the side tourbillon, and you will find the innovative small seconds display.

No longer hoarding the space inside the watch case, it allows the watchmakers at Concord to create its hallmark layered construction of the various sub-dials (including the chronograph counter with flyback function at 5 o’clock), the power reserve indicator, and the trust index display. This index basically informs you when you have over-wound the watch.

From the side, these neatly arranged components offer a sense of depth and play of space inside a 48.5 mm case. The watch is issued in a limited edition of 25.
