Housing a new El Primero caliber, 4007C, the
Zenith Mega Port Royal Tourbillon joins the Zero-G Tourbillon at Baselworld in
presenting new calibers for the El Primero and opening up new vistas in the
manufacture’s repertoire.
The case is in black titanium and sports a protective
grill across the sapphire crystal that is meant to offer additional protection
to the crystal. What makes this piece interesting though is the introduction of
an anchor in silicon, marking a major milestone for the manufacture and a wholly
unanticipated one at that.
The tourbillon carriage ‘sits behind
bars’ at the 11
o’clock position, and makes one revolution
per minute. The Grande Date version features a patented three-disk system that
is yet another mechanical advancement from the brand this year. Case
specifications are not yet available, at press time.
