Employing the same flat gong that debuted with the Grande Sonnerie, a new method of strike selections mechanism – by using the same hammer to sound off hours and minutes but with a slight pause inserted in between – was Journe’s masterstroke in freeing up space, and yet deliver crystal clear striking tones, in a movement that measures barely 4mm thick.
