Singapore hosted the first of Swiss watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre’s worldwide Watchmaking Weeks recently. From Singapore, the Watchmaking Week moves on to Kuala Lumpur, then France, then Germany and finally, China.

This event features a look at the heritage of manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre, also known as the Grande Maison, from its founding in 1833 to its present-day accomplishments. On show at selected venues are the brand’s museum pieces and its entire SIHH 2008 assortment.

As part of the Watchmaking Week, the manufacture offers the public a chance to meet watchmakers from Jaeger-LeCoultre and learn something about making watches through the Master Class. Significantly, the manufacture offered hands-on classes in both assembling the mechanical movements and decorating them.
